Can I update existing Help Center articles from a support thread?
Not directly. Plain can generate a new Help Center article from a thread, but there is no built-in action that updates an existing article from a thread. To update an existing article, use Sidekick or edit it in the Help Center editor.
Generate a new article from a thread
- Open the thread in Plain.
- Press
⌘ + K, orCtrl + Kon Windows, to open the command palette. - Type Generate help center article and select it.
- Choose the Help Center to publish to.
Plain opens the Knowledge Base editor with a draft pre-filled from the thread. This always creates a new article.
Update an existing article with Sidekick
Sidekick can update an existing article from a thread with the /update-docs skill. It reviews the thread, finds the most relevant existing article and proposes a diff. The change is applied once a team member approves it. This is the recommended way to get information from a thread into an existing article.
Update an existing article manually
Without Sidekick, open the article in the Help Center editor. Use the Edit with AI tools there to rewrite, expand or refine sections.
