How to enable Ari inline links and connect an MCP server

Ari can include clickable inline links to help center articles and indexed knowledge sources in its responses. It can also use external tools through Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.

  1. In Settings, open Ari, then Preferences, then Behavior, and turn on Include inline links. The setting is per workspace.
  2. Ari can only link to content indexed in your workspace. In Settings, open Knowledge and confirm your help center articles are published and any extra URLs or sitemaps are indexed.

Links point to the source articles and indexed documents themselves, not to URLs found inside article content.

If the toggle is not visible, inline links may still be rolling out to workspaces. Contact Plain support to request early access.

Connect an MCP server

  1. In Settings, open Sidekick, then MCP Servers, and click Add server.
  2. Enter the server URL. Plain walks you through the OAuth flow.

MCP servers connect through OAuth only. If your server uses API key authentication, wrap it in an OAuth-compatible flow with a proxy provider such as Nango's Private API connector, then connect the proxy URL to Plain.

Your MCP server must be reachable by Plain's servers over HTTPS. Servers on a private network need a public tunnel. Each connection is scoped to one workspace, so register the server separately in each workspace you operate.
