Can a Slack channel be linked to multiple Plain accounts?
No. Each connected Slack channel can be linked to one company or tenant at a time. There is no setting that lets a single channel route messages to several accounts at once.
If you try to add the channel to a second company or tenant, Plain shows an error and does not create the link. The channel stays linked to the account it was first associated with.
Plain routes threads based on which company or tenant a channel belongs to. If a channel belonged to several accounts, Plain could not reliably attribute incoming messages to the right customer record. Company-level context, SLAs and workflow routing would break.
Options for shared Slack channels
- Use a separate channel for each partner or customer. Each channel maps to one Plain account, so routing, SLAs and reporting work automatically.
- Link the shared channel to a single catch-all company and reassign threads manually. Incoming threads are attributed to that company, and your team updates the company or customer on each thread as needed.
- Use tenants. A tenant can be added to the channel's existing company association, but the channel still maps to a single company and tenant pair, not to several companies.
