Can a Slack discussion be linked to multiple Plain threads?
No. A Slack discussion can be linked to one Plain thread at a time. If you try to link the same Slack thread to a second Plain thread, Plain shows an error and does not create the link.
A discussion is created when you start one from inside a Plain thread, or when you paste a Plain thread link into a Slack channel where the Plain bot is installed. Each discussion belongs to exactly one thread.
Options for incident workflows
If a Slack conversation is relevant to several incidents or Plain threads:
- Start a separate Slack thread for each Plain thread. Each one gets its own discussion, and context stays scoped to that thread.
- Link the Slack thread to the most relevant Plain thread. Add notes on the other threads pointing to the linked one so your team can find the discussion.
- Link the incident to the support request directly, for example with Plain's incident.io or PagerDuty integration.
