Who is viewing or typing in a thread?

Presence indicators show who else is active in a thread, in real time. When several teammates have the same thread open, you can see who is viewing and who is typing without asking. Presence indicators are on by default and need no setup.

What you see

• Active viewers: when a teammate opens the same thread, their avatar appears in the thread header. If three or more people are active, the header shows the first few avatars and a count for the rest, such as +2.
• Typing indicators: when a teammate types a reply or a note, their avatar appears in the dock with an animated ellipsis. It disappears when they stop typing or send the message.
• Tab-aware presence: presence reflects whether someone is looking at the thread, not whether they have a tab open. A teammate who switches away from the thread drops out of the view and reappears when they return.

  In a busy queue, this stops two people from writing separate replies to the same thread or interrupting each other's investigation.
