Why do only some Slack channels appear in the workflow builder?
The Send Slack notification action lists channels from your Slack notification integrations, not from your discussion channels. A channel set up as a discussion channel in Settings, under Slack, does not appear in the workflow builder unless you also add it as a notification integration in Settings, under Notifications, then Slack. This is expected behavior.
Add a channel to the workflow builder
- Go to Settings, then Notifications, then Slack.
- Add a new Slack notification integration.
- Select the Slack channel you want to use in workflows.
- Save. The channel now appears in the Send Slack notification action.
There is no limit on the number of notification integrations. Add one per channel to make all your discussion channels available in workflows.
Why the two lists are separate
Discussion channels, in Settings under Slack, define which channels Plain reads customer messages from and uses for internal team discussion. Notification integrations, in Settings under Notifications, define where Plain sends outbound workflow notifications. Because they do different jobs, a channel must be added to both if you want it to do both.
